The bright foliage of fall brightened an otherwise dreary scene.

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A thick layer of fog blanketed parts of the Bay Area on Thursday, dropping visibility to a quarter-mile in many locations.

Claus Weisemann, who took the ferry from Alameda to South San Francisco, appreciated the gloom. He writes, "Marinas are part of the Bay Area and normally they are associated with summer and sunshine. This is Oyster Point Marina on a foggy morning in fall which makes for an interesting contrast. I shot this pic this morning on my walk from the ferry to the office."

It is beautiful. Thanks for sharing, Claus!
