Hackers Descend on South City
Saturday a worldwide iOS jailbreaking conference is being held at the South San Francisco Conference Center.

A group of iPhone hackers, or "jailbreakers" will be gathering in South San Francisco Saturday to hear speakers, network and attend workshops at what some endearingly call a geekfest, or JailBreakcon.
The jailbreak community revolves around the activity of breaking into iOS, the Apple operating system, in order to run software that is not authorized by Apple, on devices like iPhones and iPads.
At least 13 speakers are scheduled to be at the event at South San Francisco Conference Center from 9 a.m. to about 8 p.m.

JailBreakcon was once known as MyGreatFest, and held its first annual conference in London last year. According to the website, the founders changed the name of the conference to better reflect what it's about.
A New York Times article about the conference last year said that the jailbreaking scene is becoming more mainstream: "Even Apple itself seems to be warming up to the jailbreaking community of late."
