Injured Windsurfer Rescued off Foster City Coast

Boat crews from several agencies, including South San Francisco, assisted the Coast Guard in the rescue.

An injured windsurfer was rescued off the coast of Foster City onΒ Tuesday evening, according to the United States Coast Guard.

Coast Guard Sector San Francisco was notified of person who appeared to be in distress floating roughly a mile north of the Third Avenue boat ramp at 5:09 p.m. and immediately dispatched a 45-foot response boat to that location.

The victim was located with assistance from a good Samaritan over the radio. He was found to have suffered minor injuries, and was presenting signs of mild hypothermia, according to the Coast Guard.

The victim was transported to Coyote Point Marina where emergency medical personnel were waiting to transport him to a local hospital.

Boat crews from Foster City, South San Francisco and the Alameda Fire Department also rendered assistance in the rescue.
