Police: Man Allegedly Follows 12-Year-Old Girl, Tries to Get Her into His Car

South San Francisco police are searching for a man who followed a 12-year-old girl and tried to get her into his car Monday afternoon. The girl was at Grand and Orange avenues around 3:30 p.m. when she was approached by a man in a vehicle, police said.

The man shouted at the girl several times to get her attention and tried to get her to get into his car. The girl walked away and the man followed her in his car for several blocks before driving away, according to police. The suspect was described as a black man around 25 years old with a thin build.

He was wearing a black short-sleeved T-shirt and a gold chain around his neck, police said. The car was a black mid-1990s compact sedan, possibly a Honda. It had an unusually loud engine or modified exhaust, police said.
