Obituary: Joey D. Hopper, Raised in South San Francisco, Passes Away Peacefully

August 31, 1944 – January 22, 2017

Joey D. Hopper (Joe) passed away peacefully on January 22, 2017, after a heroic and short battle with cancer. Joe was born August 31, 1944 in Petaluma, California, the son of Marjorie Hopper (Herman) and Jerdan Hopper. Father to Jessica Hopper Hollander (Judd) and Sara Hopper and grandfather to Griffin.

Joe was raised in South San Francisco, CA and was a graduate of South San Francisco High School, Class of 1962. Joe was part of a close-knit family along with his surviving sister, Nancy Williams (Hopper), his surviving brother Gary Hopper and his departed sister Cynthia Hopper. From loving parents and strong values, Joe learned the importance of family and education. Joe earned a MBA from Notre Dame and went onto to work for AC Delco Division of General Motors and several other corporations during his career, in their business management and sales groups.

Joe was a business man, a father, a grandfather, an uncle, a brother and a friend. In his retirement years, he worked as a handy man and all around engineer at an apartment complex in San Bruno, CA so that he could spend his off hours vacationing in the sand and sun. Joe and girlfriend Judy Conrad would often share memories and photos of many trips that they had been on together including, but not limited to, Cancun, Hawaii, Panama and Alaska. Joe was devoted to his family and all of those around him. He will be remembered and missed by his family and the countless friends that he cherished.
