Open Meeting for South City Downtown Plan
What do you want to see changed in your downtown area? The city wants to know: this Saturday.
On Saturday, the City of South San Francisco will host an open meeting at the Magnolia Center on Grand Ave. to discuss possibilities for the South San Francisco Downtown Station Area Plan.
City planners are looking for input from South City residents about what they would like to see changed in this part of downtown.
"We’ll be introducing the purpose of the plan, presenting background information that has been gathered so far, and asking participants to tell us about opportunities, issues and goals related to land use and circulation in the study area," South City Principal Planner Gerry Beaudin said via email.

According to the city's announcement, representatives from the BMS Design Group consultants will also be at the meeting.
The meeting will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Magnolia Center at 601 Grand Ave.

In May of 2011 the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) awarded South San Francisco a $600,000 Station Area and Land Use Planning Grant for the Downtown Area. The South San Francisco Redevelopment Agency contributed a $120,000 match, bringing the City’s available funds for the project to $720,000. $620,000 will be made available to the successful consulting team to perform the project work, and $100,000 will be used to fund staff time for this two-year project. In general, this project entails: comprehensive land use planning and urban design work, developing a strong and workable implementation program, as well as a program-level environmental impact report (EIR).
