Paul Blocks Pipeline Safety Bill
Speier: Tea Party conservative 'putting his personal ideology above life and limb.'

Sen. Rand Paul is blocking pipeline safety legislation intended to fix some of the problems that led to the rupture of a natural gas pipeline in San Bruno last year that destroyed a neighborhood and killed eight people.
U.S. Rep. Jackie Speier protested that the Senate bill is "is so modest, it doesn't begin to put the kind of safety requirements in place that are now in place in California as a result of the explosion in San Bruno."
California enjoys the protection of safety legislation passed after the San Bruno tragedy, but I'd like to be in a position to protect all Americans," the Hillsborough Democrat said.
