Peninsula Police Planning DUI Crackdown This Weekend

Officers say they'll be conducting saturation patrols in multiple cities.

BURLINGAME, CA- Extra Peninsula police officers will be deployed this weekend as the area's police chiefs and sheriff association continues its anti-DUI campaign.

According to Burlingame Police Sgt. Jim Ford, officers from Burlingame, Daly City and South San Francisco will staff a saturation patrol on Saturday, April 16, beginning at 6 p.m. They're expected to continue their efforts through 2 a.m. Sunday in areas "with high frequencies of DUI collisions and/or arrests."

"Over the course of the past three years, DUI collisions have claimed 46 lives and resulted in injury crashes harming 374 of our friends and neighbors on the Peninsula," Ford said.

Ford said officers will be focused on catching drivers suspected of DUI in South San Francisco and Daly City in this week's operation.

Funding comes from state and federal grants.
