Periodic Bike Lane Closures on Bay Bridge Planned
Caltrans is performing torch cutting operations on the demolition of the old span of the bridge.

Caltrans will periodically close the bike path on the new eastern span of the Bay Bridge over the next two weeks because of torch cutting operations on the demolition of the old span.
Between Wednesday and Oct. 15, Caltrans officials said engineers and the bridge contractor will assess daily wind conditions and any other factors in deciding whether to close the bike path to minimize risks to the public from the smoke caused by the torch cutting.
The torch cutting is taking place between Piers E18 through E23 on the far eastern end of the old span, according to Caltrans.
