Plane Towed to Gate Following Engine Failure

Update 12:08 p.m.: The plane experienced an engine failure as it began its takeoff, according to the FAA.

A mechanical issue was reported on a United flight on the runway at San Francisco International AIrport.

The flight has since been towed to the gate. United Flight 1583 was scheduled to travel from San Francisco to Newark.
