Blessing in Disguise

San Bruno CA Police Corporal Valiente and Jimmy met more than nine years ago.

Corporal Valiente was a rookie police officer and Jimmy was struggling with addiction.

In May 2008, Corporal Valiente arrested Jimmy for possession of a controlled substance and the two had not seen each other since… Until last week.

Jimmy stopped by the San Bruno CA Police Department to thank Corporal Valiente for saving his life that night. Jimmy stated that his life was forever changed the night he was arrested and that he has been clean and sober ever since. Jimmy has dedicated his life to God and to helping people break the chains of addiction by serving as a sponsor and speaking at addiction meetings and events. Jimmy said that if it wasn't for Corporal Valiente arresting him that night, there is no doubt in his mind that he would have died years ago based on the lifestyle he was living.

With Jimmy’s permission, we are happy to share his story and hope that anyone struggling with addiction to drugs or alcohol can find the strength to seek the help they need to break that addiction.
