The San Bruno Park School District Board of Education has selected Leadership Associates Executive Search Advisors, Don Iglesias, and Sally Frazier to conduct the recruitment and comprehensive search process for the selection of our next district superintendent. Community input will be an essential component of the process. The San Bruno Park Board met with the advisors on October 29th to discuss the search, and identify groups within the district and our community to contact for input regarding the next superintendent.

The search process will involve the community and all interested individuals and groups by seeking input and opinions regarding desired qualities, characteristics, background and experience for the new superintendent. Additionally, the search consultants will ask community members to share their perspectives on the strengths and challenges of the San Bruno Park School District. The consultants will compile a report of comments received during the community input sessions. They will share these comments with the Board and will also use the input to develop the recruitment brochure.

Opportunities are provided for people to contact the consultants, via e-mail or cell phone if they are unable to attend meetings or would like to provide additional information. Additionally, an on-line survey in both English and Spanish versions will be posted on the district’s website, from December 1st thru December 11th for people who would like to give input, but are unable to attend the scheduled meetings or prefer to submit comments in this manner.

Leadership Associates has conducted over 300 superintendent searches and will recruit candidates from the region and the entire state of California to assist the Board in developing a broad field of candidates so the Board can select the best match for our district. Leadership Associates conducts “confidential searches.” It is their practice that the names of the applicants are not shared publicly during the search process. The reason for the confidential process is to allow the consultants to recruit sitting superintendents, who are highly successful and well respected in their school districts and communities. Many successful superintendents are reluctant or unwilling to apply for positions where their application is publicly announced prior to the Board determining a finalist.

For information regarding scheduling a time to meet with the consultants as a group or individual, or attending the community forum, please check the San Bruno Park District website for times and location, or contact Jennifer Peponis, Administrative Assistant to the Board (jpeponis@sbpsd.k12.ca.us) (650) 624-3110. If you are unable to meet personally with the Board’s advisors, you may send an e-mail to: lhunt@leadershipassociates.org, or you may call (760) 771-4277 to leave a message to speak with the consultants, Don Iglesias or Sally Frazier.
