School Board Approves Summer School Programs
The school board approved summer school programs for this year at its meeting Thursday night.
The school board approved the 2011 summer school program at its meeting Thursday night.
There will be five high school programs: Summer Bridge, Non-Graduation Seniors, English Language Development, High School Exit Exam Preparation, and a Core Academic Summer School.
There will be an elementary and middle school program that will be offered through the Extended Year Program for special education students as outlined. There will also be a kindergarten readiness program through the First 5 of San Mateo and Silicon Valley Community Foundation.

Also at Thursday’s night’s meeting:
- The board adopted Resolution 11-07 that urges the Governor and State Legislature to provide full funding for AB 3632 mental health services for children with disabilities.
- Principal Michael Coyne presented the current levels of student achievement at South San Francisco High School to the board. The presentation showed a 21% growth in the UC Graduation Requirements from their seniors. In 2005, 35% of the seniors met the requirements. Five years later in 2010 it was 56%.
