Serial SSF Hit-And-Run Driver Caught, Police Say

South San Francisco police say the man is responsible for "several hit and run traffic collisions" in town. (breaking)

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA β€” A South San Francisco man is accused of not one, but four, recent collisions in town β€” three of which are considered hit-and-runs, police announced this week. Julian Guzman, 63, was arrested last week after his most recent crash and then tied to the other wrecks, police said Thursday.

According to South San Francisco police, Guzman is responsible for a collision at Oyster Point and Airport boulevards at 8:09 p.m. on Sept. 26 in which the driver and passenger of the other vehicle were injured.

"Guzman submitted to a series of field sobriety tests and performed poorly," police said in a news release. "Officers found Guzman to be driving while intoxicated."

While further investigating the Sept. 26 incident, authorities say they soon linked Guzman to "several hit and run collisions." They believe he was also involved in hit-and-runs in the 300 block of Maple Avenue, the 300 block of Miller Avenue and the 400 block of Hemlock Avenue, where he allegedly drove toward the owner of another vehicle on purpose, forcing the victim to jump out of the way.

Guzman was ultimately arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and DUI that caused injuries.
