South San Francisco Man Accused of Burglarizing Home, Stealing Car from Driveway

Police say they caught the suspect a day after the crime.

San Bruno, CA— A man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly burglarizing a home in San Bruno on Independence Day and then stealing a vehicle, according to police.

Officers responded to a home in the 200 block of Del Norte Drive at 5:29 p.m. Monday on reports of a burglary and auto theft that had occurred sometime between 2:45 p.m. and 5:20 p.m.

An investigation revealed a suspect had entered the home by forcing open a window in the back of house and stole electronics and a silver 2002 Toyota Camry that was parked in the driveway.

On Tuesday, the California Highway Patrol arrested the suspect, Rafael Hernandez, 25, of South San Francisco, on state Highway 17 in Santa Clara County.

According to police, items that were reported stolen from the home were allegedly in Hernandez' possession.

He was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Jail, police said.
