South San Francisco Thief Grabs Cash, Runs After Pretending to Make Gas Station Purchase: Police

Police say the man fled in a silver pickup truck. [BREAKING]

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Police are looking for a man who stole the cash right out of a register after pretending to make a purchase at a South San Francisco gas station, officials report.

It happened around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, when acted as though he was going to make a purchase at the gas station in the area of South Linden Avenue and North Canal Street.

"When the attendant opened the cash register, the suspect reached across the counter, pushed the attendant's arm away from the till, and stole money from the register before fleeing the scene," police said in a news release.

The clerk was not injured in the incident.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s or 30s, standing about 6 feet tall with an average build. He has a goatee and fled in a silver pickup truck that looked like a 2000s model Chevrolet Silverado, police said.
