SSF Police Arrest 2 Accused In 2022 Attempted Murder Case

Investigators allege one suspect shot several rounds at a victim who interrupted the pair trying to steal a catalytic converter.

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A man and woman arrested this week face serious charges stemming from a nearly two-year investigation, according to South San Francisco police.

In a news release, police said the investigation started on Feb. 8, 2022, when officers were called to the scene of an attempted theft on Bay Court. Officers determined a man and woman were attempting to steal a catalytic converter when they were interrupted by the victim. Police allege the man shot several rounds at the person before both suspects fled the area.

Police identified the shooting suspect as William Molina-Alba, 25, a laborer from Oakland, and allege his accomplice was Ana Villegas, 52, a house cleaner from Oakland. Police arrested the pair Wednesday on outstanding warrants.

Molina-Alba was booked into the San Mateo County jail on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and attempted grand theft. Villegas was booked on suspicion of attempted grand theft.
