What are CEREC Crowns?

By using CAD/CAM technology, CEREC Crowns can be created for patients in less than an hour - drastically cutting patient wait time down.

CEREC crowns are cosmetically appealing and sturdy tooth caps that are manufactured on site rather than at a lab. These crowns are made possible by CAD/CAM technology, which combines special imaging equipment with a computerized milling machine. In addition to being faster and more convenient than traditional crowns, CEREC optimizes the performance of restorations.

The CEREC process begins with a multi-angle imaging of the teeth. The resulting photos are used by our San Francisco dentist to make personalized designs and instructions for the milling machine to use. Patients can relax in the waiting room as their new crown is created on-site, which takes less than an hour. This is remarkably shorter than the days or weeks of waiting required for conventional crowns to be made at a lab. At the same time, patients do not have to deal with having to wear temporary crowns, which can be uncomfortable and unstable. Finally, our dentist carefully fits and bonds the new crown into place.

Crowns made with CEREC are shaped and tinted with the utmost precision, resulting in incredibly lifelike emulations of real teeth. Patients can schedule a consultation with our expert in CEREC crowns in San Francisco to learn more about this process and its results.
