SSF Woman Killed In Peninsula Highway Rollover Crash: CHP

"It appears drugs and/or alcohol were a factor in this collision," the California Highway Patrol reports.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — California Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash on the Peninsula that left one person dead over the weekend. The wreck, which was reported at 1:52 p.m. Sunday near Edgewood Road, involved one vehicle and the driver may have been under the influence.

"It appears the driver of the Toyota was traveling northbound on I-280 at unknown speeds when for unknown reasons the driver allowed the Toyota to veer to the right and leave the east side of the roadway and onto the hillside," the CHP said in a news release. "The Toyota overturned as it entered back into the lanes of I-280 northbound."

CHP Officer Art Montiel said the woman, who was a 20-year-old South San Francisco resident, was not wearing a seatbelt and "was ejected onto the #3 lane of I-280 northbound" and that it "appears drugs and/or alcohol were a factor in this collision."
