Cast Members of "The Vagina Monologues," Performing April 1st and 2nd at The Federal Bar in NoHo, Bare Their Hearts and Souls
Co-stars Maxie Solters, Lauren Rodriguez, Nan Savage, speak out about their involvement with V-Day Studio City and "The Vagina Monologues."

For Maxie Solters (who also produces), one of the most exciting parts about appearing onstage in The Vagina Monologues, is when people approach her afterwards and say how impactful the show was, how they're inspired to share their story.
Solters is honored to have founded V-Day Studio City and participate in productions of The Vagina Monologues because “If we are able to make a difference in even one person's life, then it's all worth it.”
V-Season is Maxie’s favorite time of year. The women I perform with have become my family. I truly consider each and every one of them a sister, and having the opportunity to be part of such a powerful movement with them is awesome. They make me want to be the best I can be. My life would absolutely not be as rich and meaningful without them.”

Maxie’s pleased that V-Day Studio City has incorporated men into the show for the first time. She believes that it’s crucial to include both genders. “This is a people issue, not a women's issue. In order to actually see a change in the world, men have to step up and demand to end the violence.”
Solters is grateful to The Federal Bar for their support and generosity since they started performing in the space two years ago. “I love the sense of community and that patrons can enjoy food/drink before and after the show. The experience becomes a fun night out and more of an event than a stage play.”

Maxie hopes that the audience takes away the message that they don’t have to be afraid to speak up. She advises, “By simply sharing your story and lending your voice, you can inspire the masses to do the same. Supporting one another and having the strength to rise together is how we will start to see transformation in the world.”
Lauren Rodriguez appreciates the chance to participate in the annual presentation of The Vagina Monologues. She feels that “through sharing these stories every year, and opening the show up to more and more people, we’re able to bring so much awareness to folks.”
“I can’t tell you how many people who see the show for the first time tell me after that it’s not what they thought it would be, that it was incredibly eye opening for them. That’s action, that’s changing something - no matter how small.”
For Rodriguez, one of the highlights occurs at the very end. Without giving a spoiler alert, she admits it’s the most moving moment. “It’s emotional and wonderful and helps everyone. We, the performers, and the audience really connect and learn something about each other.”
Lauren also gives kudos to the staff at The Federal Bar for “treating us like royalty…honestly, they are very accommodating and have really made us feel at home.”
Rodriguez is candid about working with this particular team. “I just f* love these women. We aren’t just cast mates, we’re sisters. There’s nothing better than coming together and doing a show with your family.”
Lauren hopes the audience leaves with “understanding, empathy, and some desire to help us change the world for women and girls.”
If you want to lend a hand to the movement, Lauren suggests checking their facebook page. “We are always sharing great causes and ways to participate.”
Nan Savage believes that the show spreads awareness by telling stories many haven’t heard before due to “all the sheltering and denial.” The Vagina Monologues says “it’s ok to talk about, learn about, be PROUD of vaginas and everything that comes with them.”
Savage is looking forward to the inclusion of men in this year’s production. “It’s necessary that men have a voice. Equality cannot be without women AND men on board, together.”
Nan appreciates the other cast members for their courage to try anything, to grow, to evolve. She is confident the audience will walk away realizing, “It's ok to ask questions. It's ok to be open to learning. It's ok to normalize conversation about vaginas.”
If you want to join the cause, Savage advocates, “Reach out to us. Reach out to any and every organization. I guarantee no one will turn away your willingness and support in any form.”
