College Deans Lists, Graduate Honors and Other Local Whiz Kid Accomplishments

Loyola Marymount University has announced the students named to the Dean's List for the Fall 2011 semester. Among them are several local students:

• Marc Aliotta, of Studio City

• Asia Smith, of Studio City

• Laura Restrepo, of Valley Village

• Nieshe Washington, of Valley Village

Students named to the Dean's list have completed 15 semester hours at LMU and earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better. Additionally, a student must have completed all of his or her courses and never received an F in any course.

 * Anthony Chiodo, a resident of Studio City, CA, has been named to the Fall 2011 Champlain College's Dean's List for academic achievements and achieving a semester grad point average of 3.5 or more. Chiodo is majoring in Game Design.

* Sarah Katz, a resident of Valley Village has earned placement on the Gonzaga University President's List for fall semester 2011. Students must earn a 3.7 to 4.0 grade-point average to be listed.

* Kaleigh Weston, from Valley Village CA, is a first-year student this fall at Pace University's New York City campus. Founded in 1906 as a business school, Pace has always insisted on a core curriculum in the liberal arts and sciences, and now has evolved into a comprehensive university preparing professionals for a full range of careers.

* Rachel Ariella Schochet, a resident of Valley Village, CA (Zip Code 91607) has earned a(n) Bachelor of Science from Excelsior College.

Excelsior College is an accredited, private, nonprofit institution that focuses on the needs of working adults. Its primary mission is to increase access to a college degree for adult learners by removing obstacles to their educational goals. *  Madeleine Goldsmith of Valley Village has been honored with placement on the Dean's List at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., for the fall 2011 semester. Goldsmith, a member of the Class of 2012, is pursuing a major in Art, History.

To earn Dean's List honors, a student must complete at least three graded courses and earn a grade point average of 3.5 or above.

*  Kevin Williamson has been named to the Dean's List for the fall 2011 semester. Williamson is from Toluca Lake, CA.

To be eligible for Dean's List, a student must carry a semester GPA of 3.5 or better and take a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).

* The following students were named to the Dean's List for the fall 2011 semester at Washington University in St. Louis.

• Gregory Harry Comanor of Valley Village, CA (91607), was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2011 semester. Comanor is a graduate of Harvard Westlake School in North Hollywood, CA, and is enrolled in the university's College of Arts & Sciences. To qualify for the Dean's List in the College of Arts & Sciences, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or above and be enrolled in at least 14 graded units.

• Lena Beth Kelly of Studio City, CA (91604), was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2011 semester. Kelly is a graduate of Chadwick School in Palos Verdes Pen, CA, and is enrolled in the university's College of Arts & Sciences. To qualify for the Dean's List in the College of Arts & Sciences, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or above and be enrolled in at least 14 graded units.

• Nathan Bryant Schoen of Studio City, CA (91604), was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2011 semester. Schoen is a graduate of Calabasas High School in Calabasas, CA, and is enrolled in the university's College of Arts & Sciences. To qualify for the Dean's List in the College of Arts & Sciences, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or above and be enrolled in at least 14 graded units.
