Documentary on Sherman Oaks resident Actress- Activist Marsha Hunt to shown at the Studio City Film Festival on Sunday,November 15th at 5 pm

After 9 years and 7 months, our feature documentary “Marsha Hunt’s Sweet Adversity” has finally landed on the film festival circuit! The film premiered at the Burbank International Film Festival on September 15th. I’m very pleased to announce that the film won this year’s “Best Documentary Feature”. The festival also honored Marsha Hunt for her 73 years as an activist with their “Awareness Award”.

I am proud to announce that Marsha will be honored at TWO film Festivals this coming weekend. We’ll be heading up to the Ojai Film Festival on Saturday night November 14th for a screening of the film at 5 pm and then Marsha will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award. On this coming Sunday , November 15th at 5 pm, we are the closing night film for the Studio City International Film Festival. The film will be screened at CAP Studios on 13752 Ventura Boulevard. Click these words to purchase tickets. Marsha will be present for a Q & A after the film. CAP ( Complete Actors Place) is located close to Ventura and Woodman. Street parking only but there should be plenty of parking as this is a Sunday.

This is Marsha’s 80th year in the entertainment industry as she was “discovered” in May 1935 at age 17 and signed with Paramount Studios. She made 25 films at MGM during the war years. She is the last living person in the famous 1943 MGM stock company photo and she is the last person alive from the Committee for the First Amendment that went to Washington 68 years ago to support the “Hollywood 19”. ( She has been participating in helping to publicize the upcoming feature film on the blacklist, “Trumbo”. Marsha knew Dalton Trumbo. She was in Dalton’s last film “Johnny Got His Gun”. Marsha’s screenwriter husband Robert Presnell Jr. “fronted” for Dalton so he could feed his family during those tough times. Go see “Trumbo” Marsha found it to be very powerful and realistic in its portrayal of the times.

Marsha has lived in Sherman Oaks for 70 years now. Many of you know that she served at the Honorary Mayor of Sherman Oaks for 18 years (1983-2001). During that time, she accomplished more than many elected officials. She planted trees on Ventura Boulevard, ran blanket drives for the homeless, coordinated walk a thons to end hunger and her two crowning achievements- she was instrumental in helping to open a day shelter for homeless women and children AND the Valley’s first homeless shelter which is still operating after 29 years (It is now run by L. A. Family Housing) p.s. Marsha represented the Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce for 18 years as Honorary Mayor. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the Chamber honored Marsha by hosting a screening of the documentary?

Marsha has given her heart and soul to the San Fernando Valley. Please come out and show your support for this great woman. Our documentary shows the world that Marsha may have been unfairly blacklisted but this does NOT define who she is. We are most grateful to Marsha for her contributions as an actor during the Golden Age of filmmaking in Hollywood and again, for her 73 years as a “planet patriot”.
