Valley Lifeguard Arrested, Accused Of Photographing Women, Girls In Restroom, Locker Room

BURBANK, CA --- A 22-year-old Burbank city lifeguard remains behind bars today, accused of using his cell phone to photograph and record women and girls in a public restroom and the employee locker room at a local pool.

Arturo Montano of Sun Valley pleaded not guilty Friday to two misdemeanor counts of annoying or molesting a child under 18 and six counts of unlawful recording, also a misdemeanor, according to a spokesman for the Burbank City Attorney's Office.

Montano, who was arrested June 22, is being held in lieu of $170,000 bail and is due back in court July 8 for a pretrial hearing.

Burbank police said they found evidence on Montano's cell phone that substantiated the charges that he had been taking pictures and videos of women and girls in various states of undress at the Verdugo Park Pool. Detectives then secured a search warrant for Montano's home, where they seized evidence including his computer.

Several minor and adult victims have been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

If convicted as charged, Montano could be required to register as a sex offender in addition to possible jail time and fines.
