Asm. Bill Dodd: Organ Donors Needed

Organ, eye and tissue donations can save lives. In fact, one person can save the lives of up to eight people as an organ donor, restore sight to two people through cornea donation and heal others through tissue donation.

"I hope you'll consider giving the gift of life by becoming an organ donor," said Assemblymember Bill Dodd.

The need is urgent:

• California ranks first among all states with more than 22,000 men, women and children on the organ transplant waiting list.
• Of those on the transplant list in California, 84% are in need of a life-saving kidney.
• On average, 21 people die each day in the U.S. (about 7,600 each year) because the organ they needed did not come available for transplant in time.
