Assemblymember Frazier honored to receive Solano Transportation Authority award

Assemblymember Jim Frazier was honored as Solano Transportation Authority’s Legislator of the Year during the agency’s annual awards ceremony in Rio Vista last week.

“It’s such a great feeling to receive the Legislator of the Year award from the Solano Transportation Authority,” Assemblymember Frazier said. “I am proud of all the many great transportation projects that Solano County celebrated this year, despite the lack of adequate funding. When I see those completed projects in place, the improved safety for motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians they bring, and the enriched accessibility provided for by improved public transportation, it makes me work even harder to secure adequate funding for California’s transportation systems. These projects are examples of why we must make transportation our priority in California.”

Frazier, who represents Assembly District 11, shared the honor with California State Sen. Jim Beall. The two legislators are also sponsors of companion bills that address the state’s transportation funding crisis. ABX1 26 and SBX1 1 would provide an additional $7.4 billion annually across California’s transportation system: highways, local streets, transit, bikes and pedestrians. The bills use a portfolio approach to address a multitude of funding needs, so that everyone benefiting from California’s transportation infrastructure contributes to its continual maintenance and improvement. Additionally, important reforms are included to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of funds.
