'Bizarre' Incident At Fairfield Police Department Leads To Arrest
A man drew attention when he parked his van near the back of the police department, a sergeant said.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — A man who was reportedly "acting bizarre" while parked near the Fairfield Police Department was arrested after officers searched his van and found him illegally in possession of drugs and numerous weapons, police said. The man, later identified as Jose Vasquez, 36, of Fairfield was spotted by a city employee at about 4:10 p.m. Tuesday parked near the back door of the police department, according to police Sgt. Nicholas McDowell.
"The employee had a brief conversation with the subject who claimed he was being followed by several individuals who were trying to harm him," McDowell said.
As officers responded, they saw a small baggie of what appeared to be drugs on the center console of Vasquez's van — prompting them conduct a search of the inside of the vehicle, the sergeant said.
