Crews Battle Bella Vista Fire In Suisun City, On Travis AFB
Breaking: The vegetation fire reportedly threatened homes and at one point, spread onto Travis Air Force Base.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA -- The Suisun City Fire Department remains on scene of a vegetation fire that erupted Thursday afternoon and threatened homes near Travis Air Force Base before spreading onto the base.
The Bella Vista fire was reported around 4:15 p.m. near 533 Bella Vista Drive, a fire dispatcher said.
Firefighters from Vallejo and Travis Air Force Base responded to assist Suisun City crews with battling the grass fire that was burning just south of the base.

At one point, the fire spread onto the base; however, base officials said just after 7 p.m. Thursday that flames inside the perimeter of the base had been extinguished.
"Solano Fire has informed us that the fire has been contained off-base and crews are currently working on hot spots," base officials said.

The South Gate of Travis AFB was closed until further notice and individuals were asked to avoid the area.

At the same time, evacuations have been ordered for the 1,000-acre Winters Fire in nearby Yolo County.
