Winters Fire In Yolo County Forces Evacuations, Road Closures
Breaking: The wildland fire that broke out early Thursday afternoon along Highway 128 has prompted mandatory evacuations, Cal Fire says.

YOLO COUNTY, CA -- Residents of two communities near a wildland fire that broke out Thursday southwest of Winters have been ordered to evacuate, according to Cal Fire. As of 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Winters Fire had burned 1,000 acres and was 15 percent contained. Residents of Los Positos Estates and Golden Bear Estates near Highway 128 are under mandatory evacuation orders, according to the latest update from Cal Fire.
Five-hundred firefighters are assigned to the Winters Fire, which erupted at 12:42 p.m. in the area of Highway 128 and Pleasant View Road, 3 miles southwest of Winters, according to Cal Fire.
One injury has been reported, though it was not immediately clear whether it involved a firefighter or civilian.

The vegetation fire near the Napa County line has forced the closure of some roads, including Highway 128 between Lake Berryessa Dam and Pleasant View Road.

Earlier in the afternoon, the Napa County Sheriff's Office advised that Highway 128/ Monticello to Winters was closed. The roadway was expected to reopen Friday morning, Napa sheriff's officials said, noting that no damage to Napa County has been reported.
East of the fire, Pleasants Valley Road is closed.

The blaze rapidly spread -- growing from 30 acres in size to 80, then to 250 before consuming an estimated 1,000 acres.

According to Cal Fire, seven air tankers are being used to battle the Winters Fire from above. On the ground, firefighters from nearby jurisdictions including Dixon, Vallejo, Fairfield, Vacaville, Winters, Yolo County, Woodland, Willow, Aspardo, UC Davis, Capay, West Plainfield and West Sacramento are all on scene.
