Don't Miss Upcoming Free Health Workshops
These are the last three that will be hosted in 2015 by Solano County.

Free Healthier Living workshops help persons with chronic conditions live better lives.The final three workshops for 2015 are starting in September and space is limited.
More than 400 adults throughout Solano County with conditions ranging from diabetes to high blood pressure,have created personal action plans and successfully completed the workshops.

“We’ve seen participants who started the workshop with out of control blood sugar, who were overweight, depressed or arthritic and barely able to walk, make amazing progress in just six weeks,” said Dianna Gonzalez, program coordinator at Area Agency on Aging Serving Napa and Solano.
Guided by an experienced pair of lay leaders, Healthier Living participants learn to manage their symptoms, solve problems and set weekly goals for behavior change.

The series of six, weekly workshops follows theacclaimed Stanford University curriculum that includes healthy eating, relaxation techniques and ways to exercise easily and safely.
“Some participants have managed in six short weeks to control their blood sugar or blood pressure, lose 30 pounds and even go from relying on a walker to joining a walking group with new friends in their Healthier Living workshop,” Gonzalez said.
The free workshops are availablestarting Tuesday evening,Sept. 1 in Fairfield at NorthBay Healthcare Center for Primary Care;or Wednesday, Sept. 2in Vacaville at William J. Carroll Government Center; orTuesday, Sept. 15 at the Suisun City Library.

Fairfield (Tuesdays)
Free Healthier Living workshop to improve quality of life for anyone with a chronic health condition will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 1 through October 6 at NorthBay Healthcare Center for Primary Care, 2458 Hilborn Rd., Fairfield. Caregivers are welcome.
