Fairfield Woman Dies In Rockville Road Crash: CHP

BREAKING: The solo-vehicle collision closed part of Rockville Road Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — A 75-year-old Fairfield woman died in a crash Friday morning in unincorporated Solano County near Fairfield when her SUV traveled off Rockville Road — Lincoln Highway — and collided with a tree, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A preliminary investigation of the crash revealed that at 9:05 a.m. the woman was driving a 1999 gray Jeep Grand Cherokee westbound on Rockville and was approaching the intersection with Lozano Lane when "the vehicle turned to the right and drove off of the roadway onto the dirt shoulder," then "collided with several objects before colliding with a large tree," said CHP Officer Dave Harvey.

She suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene, Harvey said.

Her name was not released Friday afternoon by the CHP.

Rockville Road was closed in the vicinity of Abernathy Road in the wake of the solo crash, according to the CHP, which reported that utility lines that were down in the road.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation, Harvey said; anyone with information concerning the collision is asked to contact the Solano Area California Highway Patrol Office at 707-428-2100.
