PAL Summer of Slime

Teens...come shine (er...slime) with us this summer!

What do Will Smith, Whoopi Goldberg, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber and John Cena have in common with PAL staff? They have all (or soon will have) been SLIMED! Summer breezes means it is SLIME TIME at PAL as June kicks off our SUMMER OF SLIME! Each week, we will have contests and challenges to determine which PAL staff member sits in our slime zone!

When we are not busy getting slimy in June, some other highlights will include:

Every Monday Matters! Each Monday, we will pick a different topic to explore and help students understand why they matter using the Every Monday Matters curriculum. In June, we will BE IN AWE, LIVE AUTHENTICALLY, PLAY THE HERO, and GO ALL IN!

Youth Speaks is a global movement of young people picking up pens and stepping proudly onto stages, declaring themselves present…and PAL will join them again this summer!

Forget about tasting the Rainbowβ€”this June we will BE the rainbow when we host another PAL Color Run! The first 50 members to sign up will get a white t-shirt to start the run!

Dark Dining takes place in a dark restaurant, where the customers do not see the food they are eating. In June, PAL will tweak the concept to create a workshop to help students improve their communication skills…and have some fun!

Chill & Spill in the Coffee House! As part of the learning process involved in Alive & Free, students are asked to explore their anger, fear, or pain. This summer, we will add an art component to give PAL members a creative space to Draw It Out, Ink It Out, and explore their thoughts and feelings.

The food pantry will be open EVERY Friday, Alive & Free will be here on Mondays, and the Library will hold several workshops in June! There will be water balloon games, laser tag with the Fairfield Police Department, craft projects, and an outdoor old school movie night featuring Love & Basketball. Boxers can train every day, we will continue our flag football league on Thursdays, start a new soccer season on Mondays, there will be Kajukenbo on Mondays and Wednesday, and we will be whipping up all kinds of recipes in the cooking classes on Thursdays.

The Fairfield PAL Program is open to Fairfield, Suisun, and Travis Students enrolled in grades seven through twelve. Memberships are $10 per year and can be purchased at the Fairfield Community Center (1000 Webster Street) Mon-Thursday between 11:30-5:30pm. The PAL Center is located at 2195 Union Ave in Fairfield.

The Fairfield PAL program offers Fairfield, Suisun, and Travis teens a place to grow, learn, and build the skills they need today and in the future. The PAL Center offers teens a safe environment, supports working families, and helps students achieve by giving them opportunities right now. The center is open Monday – Thursdays between 3pm and 9pm and Fridays from 3pm until 10:30pm.

For more information about these or other PAL activities, please call 707-422-6288 or connect with us online at Facebook.com/FairfieldPAL1, Twitter.com/@pal_fairfield or Instagram.com/ff_pal_center.
