Rotary Club Celebrates Arbor Day With Suisun Tree Planting
City/Club Team Up on Walters Road

SUISUN CITY —Fairfield-Suisun and Dixon Rotary Clubs representatives gathered on Saturday, April 28, 2018, to celebrate Arbor Day by planting trees along the Walters Road median in Suisun City.
Over sixteen Rotarians participated in the event supervised by City Operations staff and overseen by Project Horticulturists Steve Tyler and Barry Coate.
Suisun City Manager Suzanne Bragdon attending Saturday’s event said it was the inauguration of the City’s plan to plant over 200 trees along Walters Road, at the Lambrecht Sports Complex, along Highway 12 and downtown.

She thanked the Rotarians on behalf of the City saying, “It was Rotarians who bought the trees for this project and jumped started a long held goal of bringing fall colors to Suisun City’s entryways. The Council is quite pleased that they stepped up to help on this project, and looks forward to future partnerships.”
Fairfield Suisun President Jerry Wilkerson praised the work of his and the Dixon club saying “From its very inception, the idea for this project has been met with an enthusiastic response. It is a tangible and visible sign of Rotary’s commitment to the environment and to our communities.”

He also said the project was accomplished partly in answer to the Rotary International President Ian Riseley’s challenge to Rotary Clubs worldwide to plant one tree for every member of their club on Arbor Day 2018.
The Fairfield Suisun Rotary Club meets every Tuesday at Noon at the Kroc Center in Suisun.
