Slain Solano deputy to be honored
Legislature adopts Assemblymember Jim Frazier's bill to rename portion of Highway 12
SACRAMENTO, CA β Assemblymember Jim Frazierβs Assembly Concurrent Resolution 177 honoring Solano County Sheriffβs Deputy Hale Humphrey has been approved by the Legislature.
βDeputy Humphrey was a hero who was dedicated to protecting and serving his community. Iβm grateful that the Legislature is able to properly honor Deputy Humphrey and keep his memory alive by naming part of Highway 12 after him,β stated Frazier (D-Oakley).
On March 15, 1963, Deputy Humphrey was stationed at a roadblock to apprehend a suspect fleeing from a service station robbery. His life was tragically taken after the suspect unexpectedly rammed his vehicle into the roadblock.

βThe Solano County Deputy Sheriffsβ Association is proud to be a part of this process that dedicates a section of Highway 12 to the late Deputy Hale Humphrey. It has been a privilege to work with Assemblymember Frazier and his staff to honor Deputy Humphrey, his family, and all Solano County Sheriff officers,β stated Solano County Deputy Sheriffsβ Association President Deputy Daryl Snedeker.
This resolution will designate a portion of State Highway Route 12 between the City of Fairfield and the City of Suisun City, as the Solano County Deputy Sheriff Hale Humphrey Memorial Highway.

At the time of his passing, Deputy Humphrey was survived by his wife of 10 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Humphrey, and his daughter Sherry Humphrey.
