Solano Transportation Authority announces awards
Assemblymember Jim Frazier named Legislator of the Year; Suisun City is Agency of the Year.

Assemblymember Jim Frazier was named Legislator of the Year during the Solano Transportation Authorityβs 25th Anniversary Awards ceremony Nov. 4.
It was the first time STA has given that award since 2009, according to information posted on its website.
βI was honored to receive this award from the STA,β said Frazier. βAs chair of the Assembly Transportation Committee, I am glad to be in a position to better help Solano County meet its transportation goals.β

The award was announced at an event hosted by STA Chair and Benicia Mayor Elizabeth Patterson at the Historic Clock Tower in Benicia.
βOur theme this year was βBack to the Future,ββ Patterson said in a press release from STA. βWe took a look back to see how transportation modes that once graced Benicia and Solano County have started returning to use. In celebration of the STAβs 25th anniversary, we reflected on how the STA has been βWorking for Youβ to bring transportation benefits to our local communities since its formation in 1990.β

Advisory Committee Member of the Year: Jim Antone, Solano Safe Routes to School Advisory Committee
Business of the Year: Fiskβs Cyclery, Dixon, and Rayβs Cycle, Vacaville
Transit Employee of the Year: Kathy Anders, Dixon Readi-Ride
Safe Routes to School: Dr. Alana Shackelford, Vallejo City Unified School District
Transportation for Livable Communities: City of Rio Vista β Waterfront Promenade Phase II
Safety Projects of the Year: City of Benicia, Safe Routes to School Projects
Project of the Year: SolTrans, Operations and Maintenance Facility
Project Delivery: SolTrans
Partner of the Year: California Highway Patrol
Agency of the Year: City of Suisun City
Special Award: Dan Kasperson, Retired Public Works Director, City of Suisun City, and Mike Ferrell, Retired CHP Lt. Commander, Cordelia Truck Scales
The STA awards recognize individuals, programs, activities and projects that have contributed to the continued success in βimproving the quality of life in Solano County by delivering transportation projects to ensure mobility, travel safety, and economic vitality,β according to theΒ press release. The Annual Awards program is carried out without taxpayer funds, thanks to private sector sponsors.
