Suisun City Residents: Wear Orange in September to Help Raise Awareness, End Hunger

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Residents in the East Bay are being asked to wear orange, which is the official color of hunger relief, during the month of September as part of a social media and community effort to help raise aware to end hunger as part of Hunger Action Month.

One in eight residents turn to a local food bank for help. The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano is calling on residents to get involved. The nonprofit has five easy ways residents can make a difference in their community.

1. DONATE. The Food Bank can provide 2 meals for every $1 donated. Help raise enough funds for 20,000 meals this September.
2. ADVOCATE. Follow the Food Bank @foodbankccs and share our posts about local hunger.
3. TURN ORANGE. Orange is the official color of hunger relief. Make a statement by wearing orange in September!
4. VOLUNTEER. The Food Bank especially need volunteers in their Fairfield warehouse (foodbankccs.org/volunteer)!
5. EMPTY PLATE SELFIE. Find a paper plate, scribble what you can’t do on an empty stomach and post a photo to social media with #hungeractionmonth. Tag @foodbankccs and @feedingamerica to join the conversation. Challenge your friends to do the same.

The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano serve 190,000 people a month.
