'Suspicious' Device In Fairfield Turns Out To Be Fake: Police
Police said just after 1 p.m. Thursday that a suspicious device was found in a car. In an update, police said it was determined to be fake.

FAIRFIELD, CA —A device found in a car Thursday in Fairfield that appeared to be suspicious and prompted police to call for evacuations was determined by a bomb squad to be fake, according to an update from the Fairfield Police Department. At about 1 p.m. after the device was found in a car in the 2100 block of Nottingham Drive, near Veterans Memorial Park, police said limited evacuations were underway and asked the public to avoid the area.
"Napa EOD [Napa County Sheriff’s Department Hazardous Devices Team] responded to the scene and determined the device to be fake," police said in a 2:38 p.m. Nixle alert. "The roadways are now open and there is no danger to the community."
