• Swalwell election frustrates unrepresented north state still missing LaMalfa (sacbee.com) — Sutter County residents are facing nearly five months without a voice in Congress as Gov. Gavin Newsom set the special election to replace the late Rep. Doug LaMalfa at the far end of the legal window. County supervisors, led by Mike Ziegenmeyer, are pressing Newsom to move up the date, arguing it’s unfair that Swalwell’s Bay Area district gets a much faster replacement.
   

• $61.6M Placer Parkway Project gets green light (kcra.com) — A long-planned Placer Parkway project is finally moving forward, with Placer County approving a $61.6 million first phase that will eventually link to Highways 70 and 99 in south Sutter County. Once the new expressway reaches the Sutter County line, local officials here will be responsible for building the next segment, potentially easing congestion for commuters who drive between Sutter and Placer counties.
