5K Walk Aims To Promote Poisoning, Overdose Awareness In Murrieta
Three events honor those who have lost their lives due to poisoning and overdose. There is still time to register to walk/volunteer.
MURRIETA, CA — There is still time to sign up to walk or vounteer for the 5KPoisoning and Overdose Awareness walk and resource fair this weekend in Murrieta, according to the Riverside University Health System.
The 5K walk starts off at 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. from Murrieta Town Square Park, but the heart behind the walk goes much deeper, according Riverside University Health System spokesperson Kerri Mabee.
The event includes the walk, a resource fair, guest speakers and lunch will also be provided. Volunteers and those who register to walk may sign up for a T-shirt.

People are gathering to walk or volunteer and shine a light on the awareness of substance misuse, poisoning, and overdose, providing access to prevention and treatment services and memorializing those lost to poisoning and overdose. The walk honors those who have lost their lives from poisoning or overdose, according to the website for RUHS.
There were three scheduled events to honor those who have lost their lives due to poisoning and overdose. Murrieta's is the final of the 5K walks; the others are held in Riverside and Palm Desert.

"We welcome you to register for one of our 5k walks listed," Mabee said. "Volunteers are also needed. Event highlights include the free 5K fun walk, resource fair, guest speakers, and complimentary lunch.
"We are looking for people with a passion for serving others and helping raise awareness of the deadly dangers of substance use," according to the Riverside University Health System - Behavioral Health, which hosted the inaugural Poisoning and Overdoes Awareness 5K Walks throughout the county.
The walk is to honor those who have lost their lives due to poisoning and overdose.
All are invited to register to walk or if you are interested in being a volunteer.
