American Legion Riders, Chapter 852 presents the 5th Annual SGT Clinton K. Ruiz Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday April 14

On Friday April 14, 2017, The American Legion Riders, Chapter 852 (Temecula/Murrieta Valley) will present the 5th Annual SGT Clinton K. Ruiz Memorial Golf Tournament. This year's tournament will be hosted at Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta. This patriotic event will raise money for the SGT Clinton K. Ruiz Memorial Scholarship Fund as well as local veteran and community organizations and causes within the Temecula and Murrieta Valley.

SGT Clinton K. Ruiz was born March 14, 1990 in Poway. He was raised in Murrieta and attended local schools. He was a graduate of Murrieta Valley High School, Class of 2008. SGT Ruiz was killed in action on October 25, 2012 while serving in Afghanistan with the 9th Military Information Support Battalion (Airborne), 8th Military Information Support Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, NC. SGT Ruiz died of wounds suffered when his unit was attacked by enemy combatants in Khas Uruzgan, Oruzgan Province, Afghanistan. His military awards include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Afghan Campaign Medal (Campaign Star), Global War on Terrorism Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Parachutist Badge.

The cost of playing in this prestigious tournament is $175. The cost covers a round of golf, cart and range balls, a goody bag, tournament shirt, Monster energy drinks, a box lunch and gourmet buffet dinner. Additionally, golfers will have the opportunity to participate in a putting contest, a longest drive contest as well as several hole-in-one contests. There will also be raffles and give-aways as well as an evening auction for such items as a custom motorcycle, fine art and other unique items.
