TEMECULA, CA — The City of Temecula has launched a new safety course designed to teach riders of electric bicycles, scooters and other micromobility devices how to ride safely and follow state laws, the city said.
The city announced the launch of its "Safe Riders" course Monday, saying the program covers riding techniques, rules of the road, emergency maneuvers and proper handling of bicycles, electric bicycles, electric scooters and other micromobility devices.
Participants will learn essential riding skills and California laws and regulations governing the use of the devices, helping them understand their responsibilities as riders, according to the city.

The course also emphasizes that safe riding practices extend beyond streets and bike lanes to public spaces where pedestrians may be present.
"Being a responsible rider means knowing rules apply beyond the road. Riders must follow posted rules & be mindful of pedestrians at City parks, the Promenade Mall, and other public spaces," the city said.
