Chaparral’s Orchestra Takes Home Gold
It won several first-place honors at a competition in San Francisco.
’s String Orchestra was named the best orchestra in the country.
The orchestra won the award at the Music Heritage National Competition in San Francisco April 2.
It won several other awards, including a “National Gold Rating” for its overall skill level, a “Sweepstakes Award” for its combined score and the “Adjudicators Award” for its instrumental performance.

This is the sixth consecutive year the orchestra won these awards, according to Terri de la Torre-Marshall, a spokesperson for the orchestra.
The group also won a gold rating for its performance at Fullerton College on March 25, she said.

The orchestra is also set to perform at ’s auditorium at 7 p.m. May 18 during the “Elegant Evening of Strings” event.
