Temecula Gas Leak Prompts Evacuations Tuesday Morning Near Vail Ranch Center

At least 10 businesses were evacuated on Tuesday due to the gas leak in the southwest corner of Temecula and Red Hawk parkways.

TEMECULA, CA — A gas leak in south Temecula has prompted the evacuation of nearly a dozen local businesses, as the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department warned drivers in the area to seek alternate routes.

SoCal Gas has arrived and is working to crimp the leak, as Cal Fire firefighters will remain in the area for about an hour.

Just after 7 a.m., a gas leak was reported in the 31800 block of Temecula and Red Hawk parkways, at Via Rio in the Vail Ranch Center.

Firefighters arrived at the scene where a two-inch gas line outside a commercial business broke for reasons as yet unidentified, according to Cal Fire spokesperson Alex Izaguirre.

"Localized evacuations of ten businesses are in place until SoCal Gas operatives can mitigate the leak," he said.

Temecula Parkway at Via Rio is closed; no one was injured, and alternate routes through the area were suggested.
