Child Sex Assault Charges Filed In SWR Case
Police say the man sexually assaulted his own 8-year-old daughter before he was ultimately arrested at a Temecula motel.

MURRIETA, CA — A Murrieta man accused of sexually assaulting his own daughter was charged Monday with lewd acts on a child and other offenses. The alleged victim in the case is just 8 years old.
The 32-year-old man was arrested Thursday following a two-day investigation by the Murrieta Police Department, police said. Allegations first came to light on Feb. 26, at which time a Murrieta school resource officer assisted Child Protective Services with the first steps of the investigation, according to Murrieta police.
Along with two counts of lewd acts on a minor, Myers is charged with sexual penetration of a child under 10 years old and witness intimidation.

The defendant, who we are not publicly identifying to protect the victim's identity, is locked up at the French Valley jail lieu of $1 million bail, records showed Monday. He was slated to make his initial court appearance Monday afternoon at the Southwest Justice Center.
Police said in a news release last week that after a preliminary investigation by CPS case agents, the matter was turned over to the police department, whose detectives initiated "forensic interviews, a medical examination" and other steps that "corroborated and substantiated several components of the ongoing investigation."

Myers was located and taken into custody without a struggle at a motel on Moreno Road in Temecula.
"The suspect was transported to the Murrieta Police Department and interviewed by Murrieta Detectives," police said. "As a result of the interview, the suspect gave a detailed confession regarding his participation in the sexual assault of his juvenile daughter."
The child is now the care of family members.
The man has no documented prior felony or misdemeanor convictions in Riverside County.
