Man Nabbed At Temecula Motel Sexually Assaulted Own Daughter: PD

Police say the man was arrested this week after giving a "detailed confession" to the sexual assault of his own daughter.

MURRIETA, CA — A Southwest Riverside County man was arrested this week on suspicion of sexually assaulting his own 8-year-old daughter, police announced Thursday. The allegations first came to light on Tuesday, at which time a Murrieta school resource officer assisted Child Protective Services with the first steps of the investigation, according to Murrieta police.

"The preliminary investigation resulted in unsubstantiated evidentiary information and limited admissions by the suspect," police said in a news release. At that point, CPS put the girl in "a safe environment."

On Wednesday, police continued their investigation, conducting "extensive" follow-up that included "forensic interviews, a medical examination and the authoring of a search warrant for the suspect, his residence and vehicle. follow-up," officials said.

"The subsequent information gleaned corroborated and substantiated several components of the on-going investigation," police said.

By Thursday, police said they'd arrested the 32-year-old man at a Temecula motel, who we are not publicly identifying to protect the victim's identity.

"The suspect was transported to the Murrieta Police Department and interviewed by Murrieta Detectives," police said. "As a result of the interview, the suspect gave a detailed confession regarding his participation in the sexual assault of his juvenile daughter."

Police later searched the man's home and said they found evidence related to the case.

The man was ultimately booked into the French Valley jail on suspicion of sexual intercourse with a child under 10 years old, police said.
