De Luz Home Damaged by Fire

Initial reports Friday morning indicated light smoke was visible from the exterior of a 4,000-square-foot home on Tierra Rica Road in an unincorporated are of Temecula known as De Luz, according to authorities.

The cause of a fire that broke out Friday in a large home near Temecula was still under investigation, according to authorities.

Fourteen firefighters were dispatched at 7:29 a.m. to the 45800 block of Tierra Rica Road in an unincorporated area of Temecula known as De Luz. The blaze was contained to the kitchen pantry within 30 minutes, Riverside County Fire spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson said.

Initial reports indicated light smoke was visible from the exterior of a 4,000-square-foot, two-story home, according to Hendrickson.

"A fire extinguisher used by the homeowner prior to firefighter arrival aided fire fighting efforts," Hendrickson wrote in a report about the incident.

No one was injured or displaced by the fire.

Crews remained on scene for about two hours for clean up.

Damage to the home was estimated at $50,000, while approximately $800,000 worth of property was saved due to "quick firefighter action," Hendrickson wrote.
