Earthquakes Rattle Desert Community Near Salton Sea

The largest temblor measured a magnitude 3.5, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

BOMBAY BEACH, CA — Two earthquakes shook Salton Sea communities Tuesday, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage from the temblors.

The first quake recorded at 11:34 a.m. and measuring a magnitude 3.5 was centered about 4 miles northwest of Bombay Beach, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Another temblor recorded four minutes later in the same area measured a magnitude 2.6, according to the USGS.
