Presented by Fine Arts Network. EVITA, the compelling musical with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, recreates the amazing rags-to-riches life of Eva Peron, First Lady of Argentina and wife of Juan Peron. Set in the late 40's and early 50's, we follow Eva from her untimely death to cancer and through the events of her life that catapulted this moderately educated woman to the forefront of Argentinian society.
Evita began as a rock opera concept album in 1976. That eventually led to a London West End production in 1978 and a year later was on Broadway featuring Patti Lupone. The musical has had great success, touring professionally and numerous cast albums have been made. In 1996, a musical movie was made starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas.
Directed by Paul Kehler, the Fine Arts Network Theatre Company production features Erika Czach as Evita and John Campbell as Juan Peron.
