June Leivas of the Chemehuevi Cultural Center will be sharing her expertise in the history and culture of the Nuw. The Nuw of the Chemehuevi Indians have a fascinating history and are an important part in our California Heritage. The culture is distinguished in many ways including being one of the few cultures who believe in a female creator. Experience their story as part of the Grace Mellman Library’s community celebration of Native American Heritage Month. All events are free and open to the public. Library membership is not required.
