Eagle Scout of the Year is Great Oak Grad, Air Force Academy Cadet

American Legion Temecula/Murrieta Legion Post 852 voted 2013 Great Oak High School graduate Nick Radosevich as the Eagle Scout of the Year. Radosevich has already begun attending the U.S. Air Force Academy.

News release:

Nick Radosevich, son of Ken Radosevich of American Legion Temecula/Murrieta Post 852, was voted the State's "Eagle Scout of the Year" for 2013. Nick made the cover page of the May issue of the California Legionnaire.

Nick of Boy Scout Troop 148 in Temecula (Red Hawk), became an Eagle Scout at age 15, the highest rank and honor in scouting—a rank most scouts do not attain until age 17 or 18. Nick was selected for his total commitment to scouting. He has attended both State and National Jamborees and has been an Assistant Scoutmaster for his troop.

In addition to leading and mentoring younger scouts, Nick is also active in the youth group at St. Catherine's.

While at Great Oak High School, he was on the swim team and maintained a 4.5 GPA. As a Junior, he was a Boys State Delegate, like his older brother Mike, four years earlier; both sponsored by the local American Legion post.

Nick graduated last month and has decided to follow in his father's and older brother Mike's footsteps, attending the Air Force Academy. His first day at the Academy was June 27.

At the June 20 monthly post meeting, Nick was invited to be recognized by the legionnaires and Senator Joel Anderson's office. He was presented an American Legion Certificate and an Eagle trophy by the post. He received a Certificate of Recognition from the Senator's office, presented by Field Representative Cassandra Weinlein.

Nick profusely thanked the members for all the support he has received from them while in high school. He was especially grateful for the recognition bestowed on him by the post and the Senator's office. He promised to stay in touch and visit whenever he's in town.
