Heat Wave Continues Through Thursday in Riverside County

A triple-digit heat wave that will last until Thursday in most parts of Riverside County.

RIVERSIDE (CNS) — The mercury will soar well into the triple digits in the Coachella Valley Wednesday amid a heat wave that will last until Thursday in most parts of Riverside County, according to the National Weather Service.

High pressure over Southern California will bring unseasonably warm weather through Thursday, then a Pacific trough will move into the region on Friday and bring cooler temperatures, forecasters said.

A heat advisory will be in effect Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Riverside metropolitan area, but not the Coachella Valley.

The NWS urged residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Also, young children and pets should be never be left unattended in a vehicle, with car interiors able to "reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes," according to the NWS.

High temperatures Wednesday are forecast to reach 108 in the Coachella Valley, 98 in the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning, 99 in Hemet, 101 in Riverside, 98 in Lake Elsinore, 99 in Temecula and 82 in Idyllwild.

The mercury is expected to reach 106 in the Coachella Valley on Thursday, while highs in the Riverside metropolitan area will be in the mid- to high-90s, forecasters said.
